Professional experiences

Ph.D. in Corporate and Corporate Insolvency Law and
LLM degree in Corporate Law (with commendation), from the Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom

Dr. Samuel is an accomplished legal professional, legislative drafter and compliance expert. He holds a Ph.D. in Corporate and Corporate Insolvency Law, a Masters degree in Corporate Law (with commendation), and a Postgraduate Certificate in Legal Research (with commendation) from the Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom. Prior to that, Dr Samuel also graduated from the University of Calabar, Nigeria with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Languages (French and German), and went on to obtain a Master of Science (Msc) degree in Public Order and Information Management, from the University of Uyo, Nigeria. His legal career began when despite his first two degrees, he went back to the prestigious University of Calabar to obtain a Bachelors degree (LLB) in Law.

With a myriad of accolades to his name, Dr. Samuel has worked in various capacities in several companies and consultancy firms both in Africa and Europe. He has also lectured law at the Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University, UK, where he taught both undergraduate and postgraduate law students on various law modules including Administrative and Human Rights Law, Corporate Rescue Law, and Comparative Insolvency Systems in Emerging Markets. Dr. Samuel has also taught insolvency law to postgraduate students at the Independent University of Kigali (ULK).

Dr. Samuel has consulted for several firms of repute in the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Nigeria and Rwanda where he served as the insolvency advisor to the Government of Rwanda at the Rwanda Development Board (RDB). Dr Samuel is a forward moving individual with a wealth of academic and professional experience which strategically positions him to meet the needs and expectations of clients in his areas of expertise. He specialises in corporate law, Commercial law, and Insolvency Law. He has special research interests in Legislative drafting and compliance, company and business rescues, contract management and negotiation, and protection of employee rights. He has worked with law reform commissions of countries and has drafted several amendments to legislation and policies of various countries including Rwanda’s Insolvency Law. He is currently drafting a new Companies’ Act for the Republic of Seychelles.
